the history
My name is Shaquille Maharaj, the owner and founder of the Australian 3X3 Academy. I am a professional basketball player who is extremely passionate about basketball. The sport has been a vehicle for me to travel the world and play the game I love. I have played basketball in the United States, Canada, China and Hong Kong both in the 5V5 regular gameplay and the new fast-paced 3X3 game.
the experience
The past three years of my professional basketball career has shifted from playing 5V5 basketball towards 3X3. My first year playing for the Yunnan Elephant Pilots in the Chinese Super 3 League saw us win the championship with myself coming runner-up for the scoring title. My last tournament was the highest level of 3X3 basketball I've played to date as I represented Hong Kong on the world stage at the Hong Kong Masters 2023. We had a strong performance beating Montenegro and coming up a few points short to Saudi Arabia.
the programs
The Australian 3X3 Academy provides multiple services to our clients aside from specialised 3X3 training and games. We also offer individual and group skill development where we practice fundamentals used in both styles of gameplay. The programs enable player versatility and teach concepts that can be applied to both styles of game, enhancing the player's overall performance.
